Great Bridal Showers

Jack and Jill Theme

Save the Date Vines Magnets

Tradition shows that most bridal showers are geared towards women…this is a time when the bride to be is surrounded by friends and family who dish out advice, whether good or bad, and a time when women can get together to talk about everything. It’s rare that you see men at a bridal shower (unless they were dragged to it!) because most men believe that bridal showers are just for women…well not anymore. In this modern day and age, bridal showers are not only geared towards women, but men too, as some showers are now co-ed. If you’re thinking of having a co-ed bridal shower, then try the “Jack and Jill” theme!

Invitations for this type of theme can be anything you want. You could have invitations that have a mix of masculine and feminine touches…flowers on the outside of the card and when opened, have sports memorabilia as a border around the invitation information, is one example.

Decorations could have masculine and feminine touches also…deep colors mixed with soft pastels or miniature cars with butterflies, anything is possible.

If the weather is beautiful, have your shower outside…a barbeque is a great way to have a co-ed shower, as it is something everyone will enjoy. A limbo contest, horseshoe toss, and volleyball are some of the games that everyone could play.

If you’re looking for something that everyone, even men, will enjoy, then this theme is for you!

“First Year Of Marriage” Theme

Save the Date Custom Magnet Shadow Box Cards with Envelopes- Heart (Set of 12)

Marriage is a big step in one’s life…moving from girlfriend and boyfriend to husband and wife. The first year of marriage is a nice one for newlyweds, as everything seems new and fresh…want to have a shower that the couple will always remember? Then have a “First Year of Marriage” theme. The basis of this theme is for the couple to have a gift for each month of the year.

You don’t have to have extravagant invitations for this theme…a simple white invitation will work or if you want, you can have the invitations in the color(s) of the wedding. In the invitation, give each guest a specific month; if you know there will be more than twelve guest at the shower, try to get the gift list so there are not any duplicate gifts (if the bride to be has a wish list, this will work even better).

Decorations can be simple or if you want to do something more, then do so…flowers and balloons will work or if you could decorate with something from each month to set the theme, that would be even better. Food can be finger sandwiches, meat, cheese, and veggie trays, some cookies, etc. If the weather is nice and you can have your shower outside, you could barbeque or you could have your food catered. If possible, have a cake made into a calendar to represent the first year of marriage.

Games of all sorts could be played at this theme…you could have the bride guess how old the groom was when he did certain things (i.e. ride a bike, first kiss, tied his shoes, etc.). For party favors, you could give each guest a small gift for the month that they had.

If you want to have a theme that whenever the couple looks at a certain item, they remember where they got it, then try this theme.

“Gone With The Wind” Theme

Flower Petals

Who hasn’t seen “Gone with the Wind” and wished to see Scarlett and Rhett marry at the end? Do you know someone who loves the movie and would like to be in that time period? Well bring that time closer to home with a “Gone with the Wind” theme!

Of course, the theme is based off of the movie, so have everything you can think of relating to the movie and/or that time period, from the decorations to the games. Invitations could be a picture of a southern mansion with an opening door and details on the inside or if you’re lucky, a picture of the mansion from the movie.

If possible, have your shower in a nice sized place, such as a banquet hall, and decorate it towards the movie…white pillars made from corrugated cardboard, inexpensive muslin draped over windows, potted ferns and gardenias in corners, anything that will go with the theme.

You could serve Southern-style type of food, such as fried chicken, cornbread or corn sticks, and greens. Lemonade or mint juleps could be served for drinks and for dessert, you could have little pecan torts.

Although Scarlett and Rhett never had a chance to marry, you can make it happen with this theme…if you loved the movie, you’ll definitely love this!
